The trick to drawing animal fur is to draw it from the tip to the skin, rather than from skin to the tip. That leaves clean, distinct lines that add up to create the volume of the animal.
This one took far longer to finish than I had initially hoped it would. Drawing skin is different because you can't just blend the different tones together. To preserve the texture and small crease lines of skin, you need to draw thin deliberate lines with a sharp 2H pencil.
